How many days do you need in Morocco? A guide by trip length
From a long weekend to two weeks: what actually fits, and what doesn't.
Written by Omar Hafidi, Founder & Fez Expert (12+ years, Fez Medina native).
The single biggest planning mistake we see is choosing a trip length before choosing what to see, then trying to force the itinerary to fit. Morocco is a large, geographically varied country: the desert, the Atlas, the coast, and the imperial cities aren't a day trip apart from each other, and a route that tries to touch all four in under two weeks usually shortchanges every one of them.
As a rough guide: five days suits one focused loop close to a single city, seven days is enough for one region done properly (the desert, or the imperial cities, not both), ten days lets you combine two regions without feeling rushed, and two weeks or more is where the whole country starts to fit into one route, provided you resist adding a region for every extra day available.
The exception that breaks this rule in a useful way is a one-way route: flying into one city and out of another, rather than looping back to your starting point, buys you extra ground without extra driving days, since you're not retracing the same road twice.
If you already know your dates, start from there and we'll shape a route around them rather than the other way round. If you don't, the honest answer is that seven to ten days is where most first Morocco trips land, and it's a reasonable length to plan around until something about your own trip pulls it longer or shorter.
