When to go: Morocco by season, region by region
The country is large enough that 'best time to visit' depends on where you're headed.
Morocco's climate varies more by region than by month. Marrakech and the desert are at their most comfortable in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when daytime heat is manageable and evenings in the Sahara are cold but not extreme.
Summer (June–August) can be genuinely harsh in the desert and interior cities, though the coast, Essaouira in particular, stays cool thanks to Atlantic wind, making it a reasonable summer base.
Winter (December–February) is mild in Marrakech and the south, but the High Atlas passes can see snow, and desert nights drop close to freezing, so it's worth packing for both extremes on the same trip. The Rif Mountains and Chefchaouen follow a similar pattern to the Atlas.
