Morocco travel visa requirements: the basics

Many nationalities, including the US, UK, EU member states, and Canada, can enter Morocco visa-free for tourist stays of up to 90 days, using just a valid passport. Requirements for other nationalities vary considerably and do change, so this is genuinely one area where you should check the current rules for your specific passport rather than rely on a general travel blog, including this one.

The most reliable sources are your home country's foreign travel advisory site or the Moroccan consulate serving your country, checked close to your travel dates rather than months in advance.

Practical things worth confirming alongside visa status: your passport's remaining validity (most countries require at least six months beyond your travel dates) and whether you need proof of onward travel or accommodation at the border, which is occasionally requested though not consistently enforced.

If anything about your situation is unusual: dual nationality, a passport from a country with more limited visa-free access, or a stay longer than 90 days, it's worth confirming with the consulate directly well before booking flights.

For travellers from the United States, the usual route is to read the State Department's current country page for Morocco and the Moroccan embassy's guidance for US citizens, both close to departure. Travellers from the UK, Canada and the EU should do the same with their own government's travel advice. We do not list nationality-specific rules here because they change, and a wrong answer at the border is costly.

Whatever your nationality, bring your passport with at least one blank page, your return or onward ticket, and the address of your first hotel, which your driver-guide can give you. Keep digital copies of your passport and your insurance in case the originals are lost.
