Tipping in Morocco: a practical guide
Expected in more places than you'd think, but rarely a fixed percentage.

Tipping is customary in Morocco across a wider range of situations than in much of Europe or North America: drivers, guides, riad staff, and restaurant servers all typically expect something, even where it isn't itemised on a bill.
For a private driver on a multi-day trip, a common range is roughly 100–150 MAD (around $10–15) per day from the group, not per person, adjusted up for larger groups or longer trips. Local guides for a half or full day are typically tipped separately, often 50–100 MAD.
In restaurants, rounding up or adding roughly 10% is standard where service isn't already included; cafés are more relaxed about it. For hammam attendants, porters, and camel guides in the desert, small cash tips (20–50 MAD) are expected and appreciated.
Carrying small denominations of dirhams specifically for tipping makes this easier: breaking a large note at the end of a day is its own small hassle, and having exact-ish change ready avoids the awkwardness of over- or under-tipping by accident.
