Flying to Morocco from Singapore or Malaysia: what to expect

There's currently no direct flight between Southeast Asia and Morocco, so travellers from Singapore or Malaysia are routing through a connecting hub, commonly in the Gulf or Europe, which adds a layover on both ends of the trip. Which hub makes more sense usually comes down to your existing frequent-flyer alliance more than anything specific to Morocco.

Given the total travel time, most of our Southeast Asian travellers land at Casablanca or Marrakech and want a day to recover before the itinerary properly starts, rather than being picked up straight from the airport into a full day of driving.

The time-zone shift is milder than the distance suggests: Morocco sits several hours behind Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, so jet lag tends to resolve faster than the length of the trip would imply, usually within a couple of days.

If your dates are flexible, it's worth checking whether they overlap with Ramadan before a first visit: some restaurants and cafés shift their hours during it. That's easy for us to plan around once we know, but better to know in advance than discover it on day one.
