Sahara desert tour prices in Morocco vary widely, from cheap shared departures to fully private luxury journeys. The difference is rarely the desert itself. It is the length of the trip, the type of camp, the vehicle and whether the group is shared or private.

For a private tour, here is what our own routes cost per person, sharing a double or twin room, before the current sitewide offer. The shortest, our 4-day Fez to Marrakech desert tour, starts from €1,079. The 5-day Marrakech to Merzouga loop starts from €1,651, and the 6-day Marrakech to Fez route, with two nights in the dunes, from €1,944. The 9-day luxury journey from Marrakech starts from €4,047. Length matters most. A desert trip needs at least four days to be pleasant, because Merzouga is a full day from either Fez or Marrakech. A second night in the dunes adds cost, but it gives you a full day in the desert instead of one sunset and a long drive out the next morning.

The camp is the next variable. A basic shared tent and a private luxury camp with a proper bed and an en-suite bathroom can differ by a large margin, and it is worth asking which one a quote includes. Hotels on the road, such as in the Dades Valley, work the same way.

Private versus shared is the other big factor. A group tour spreads the vehicle across many travellers and runs to a fixed schedule. A private tour is priced for your party and your pace, which is why it costs more per person for one or two travellers and less as the group grows.

When you compare quotes, check what is included: accommodation and meals, entrance fees, the camel trek, the driver-guide, and whether the price covers the whole itinerary.
