Chefchaouen: how many days does the Blue City need?

Chefchaouen's specific sights, the Kasbah Museum, the Spanish Mosque viewpoint, the main square, can be covered in a single morning. Most of what makes the town worth visiting, though, isn't a sight at all, it's the walk itself, and that's harder to rush.

One night is the practical minimum if you're arriving from Fez or Tangier, since it lets you see the town twice: once with day-trip crowds around, and once at 7am when the blue lanes are nearly empty and the light is better for it anyway.

Two nights is the version we usually suggest if Chefchaouen is more than a quick stop on your route: it adds a half-day for the Akchour waterfalls, about an hour away, without feeling like you're checking a box.

Chefchaouen works well low-key: it's a town for sitting at a café below the kasbah walls as much as for sightseeing, so budget slower time rather than a packed schedule.
