Akchour
The trail up the Akchour valley follows a turquoise river through the Talassemtane forest to a waterfall (or a longer route to the 'God's Bridge' rock arch, for those with more time). It's an easy add-on to a Chefchaouen stay and a good contrast to the town's blue lanes.

How long to stay
Akchour is a day trip from Chefchaouen, with the drive taking roughly 35 minutes each way. A full day with the walks takes around seven hours in total.
What a visit looks like
God's Bridge, a natural stone arch about 25 metres above the river, is the best-known sight. Lonely Planet describes it as about a 45-minute walk from Akchour, roughly 1.5 km. The lower river path follows the water with little climbing, while the upper path is steeper and quieter. The full loop is long, around 20 km and seven hours, and rated hard, so most visitors choose a shorter route. The area is part of the Talassemtane National Park.
When to go
March to May and October are the best months. Summer is hot, and winter can be wet with high streams. The waterfalls carry less water after a long dry spell, so flow varies by season.
How it fits with the rest of a trip
