Fez to Chefchaouen
North into the Rif toward Chefchaouen, founded in 1471, the road climbing greener with every kilometre, arriving as the medina's walls catch the evening light and turn a deeper blue.

A free day to wander the blue lanes at your own pace (the colour is most often traced to Jewish refugees who settled the Mellah quarter in the 1930s). Mornings, before the day-trip groups arrive, are quietest.

Chefchaouen to Casablanca
South to the coast, with the Hassan II Mosque in the late afternoon light. Its 210-metre minaret is the world's second-tallest, opened in 1993 after seven years of construction.
