Ifrane
Ifrane looks unlike the rest of Morocco by design. It was built during the French protectorate in an alpine style, and sits high enough in the Middle Atlas to see snow in winter. The cedar forests nearby are home to Barbary macaques, and it makes a natural stop between Fez and the south.

4-Day Middle Atlas Tour from Fez: Ifrane and Azrou
A short trip into the cedar forests and mountain air of the Middle Atlas: Ifrane's alpine-style streets, Barbary macaques near Azrou, and a slower pace than the medina, an hour and a half from Fez.

6-Day Middle Atlas Tour from Tangier
A cooler, slower route for travellers who'd rather trade a second desert crossing for cedar forests and mountain air: Ifrane is a realistic add-on from Tangier by way of Fez.

7-Day Family Morocco Tour from Fez
A family-paced version of our desert route: a stop in the Middle Atlas to break up the drive, shorter days in the car, and a desert camp chosen for comfort over remoteness.
